September Bulletin Board

I'm currently working on a project to put up on the office bulletin board at work. My plan is to have the kids all paint Dora (for the girls) and Diego (for the boys) pictures (with a lot of help for the little kiddies) and then to cut out the faces of the characters and put a picture of each child's face in the corresponding character.

It's all coming along nicely (I only have to take pictures of a couple of kids tomorrow and only have a couple more that will need to paint their character pictures). I have to get the board title together and get the names typed out and painted. Oh, and printing out the kids' pictures and cutting them out.

Overall, I think it's going to be a really cute and fun bulletin board. However, I'm not going to want to look at Dora or Diego for at least a month afterward, haha!

I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I have a ton of stuff that I want to get done on my vacation, but most of all, I want to have FUN! I can't wait!

Curriculum change

So, we're going to be completely changing the curriculum at the daycare where I work. It's not going to be an immediate change. Actually, it's probably going to take at least 6 months to a year to get everything where it needs to be.

I'm really excited about the possibilities that this new curriculum will bring, but I'm also really nervous about all of the changes. I'm still not sure how this new curriculum is going to work with my age group.

So, I'm really curious to see what is involved. I have a book that my boss loaned me that I really need to read through. It will probably answer a lot of my questions. However, it's a pretty large textbook and it reminds me too much of college...so, I'm not too keen on doing homework now that I'm out of school. However, I really do need to read this book so that I can begin to make the changes that need to occur in my classroom.

But, in the true college spirit... I'll start it tomorrow ;p

I'm getting super excited about my vacation now! I'm SO ready for this break! I realize that this means that I have less time to get stuff done at work (I'm in charge of doing the bulletin board for September), but I can't help but look forward to the break from work!

Speaking of work...I'm going to have long days next Monday and Tuesday because we have a staff meeting on Monday after work and then on Tuesday, we're having a meeting with all of the Infant/Toddler teachers and our boss. So, that means I'll be at work for about 12 hours those days...yay.

I wouldn't mind 12-hour days if I was getting paid the whole time I was stuck there. But, we won't be getting paid for the meetings, unfortunately. I guess I'll have to bring something to keep me busy while I wait for the meetings to start.

DIY: Card box

So, I went to 3 stores in Lima yesterday trying to find all of the supplies that I need for my wedding card box. I was successful at finding the fabrics and some of the "accessories" at Joann's. However, I was unable to find all of the ribbon that I wanted and I couldn't find any of the right sized boxes at Joann's, Hobby Lobby or Walmart.

I'm planning a return trip to Hobby Lobby, probably on Wednesday, when I'll have more time to browse the whole store (I was only able to be in there for about 15 minutes because I got a call from Jake saying that he was on his dinner break and I had to rush out of the store) and hopefully find what I'm looking for.

I also need to pick up some adhesive spray for the project, so I may end up checking out Lowe's today. Maybe they'll have the boxes that I'm looking for? That would be awesome. :)

until my vacation!

I'm so excited! I'm not even going anywhere, really, but I get a break from work! Yay! I've been so stressed out lately! I'm looking forward to a break away from work and hopefully lots of chances/opportunities to get some things done. But, since it's a vacation, I'm not planning on working too hard. :)
