Sex after 50 years

The husband leans over and asks his wife, 'Do you remember the first time we had sex together over 50 years ago?'
'We went behind this very tavern where you leaned against the back fence and I made love to you.'
'Yes,' she says, 'I remember it well.'...'OK' he says, 'How about taking a stroll around there again and we can do it again for old time's sake?'
'Oh, Charlie, you old devil, that sounds like a crazy, but good idea!'
A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation and, having a chuckle to himself, he thinks to himself...I've got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence. I'll just keep an eye on them so there's no trouble. So he follows them.
The elderly couple walks haltingly along, leaning on each other for support a ided by walking sticks. Finally, they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence.
The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers. As she leans against the fence, the old man moves in.
Then suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the policeman has ever seen. This goes on for about ten minutes while both are making loud noises and moaning and screaming. Finally, they both collapse, panting on the ground.
The policeman is amazed. He thinks he has learned something about life and old age that he didn't know.
After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on.
The policeman is still watching and thinks to himself...this is truly amazing. I've got to ask them what their secret is!' So, as the couple passes, he says to them, 'Excuse me, but that was something else!! You must've had a fantastic sex life together! Is there some sort of secret to this?'
Shaking, the old man is barely able to reply, 'Fifty years ago that wasn't an electric fence.'

Maybe there's hope...

It looks like it's pretty nice outside right now. Granted, it's not very warm, but the sun is out and shining and it looks like a pretty day. I'm kinda glad that it's not hot out because we don't have Central Air in the house and we haven't gotten our ACs in the windows yet. : /

But anyways. I hope that this weekend isn't a bust! Yesterday, Jake's sister got engaged and it was a beautiful day out. Those were really the only plans I had for this weekend (going to her fiance's b-day party where he was planning to propose), but I hope that the weather stays nice so that I can do something if I decide that I want to!

Oh yeah! I have a car now! Jake's mom and dad signed the title from his old car over to me on Tuesday and I went out this morning and got the license plates and tags for it. Now all I have to do is stick on the plates, clean all of his junk out and it's all mine. I can't believe I actually own my own vehicle...it isn't in my parents' name like the last one...it's all mine. I just hope I don't wreck this one. ;p

Drained

I just finished up my 4-page paper for tomorrow's class about 30 minutes ago. It took me about half an hour longer to finish than it should have because my compy froze up on me twice. I was so afraid that I had lost the page and a half of writing that I'd done since I saved it last, but thankfully I only lost about a sentence from where it auto-saved itself. I'm so sick of waiting until the last minute to do everything! The reason I was so rushed today is that I completely forgot about half of the stuff I was supposed to have done for class today and tomorrow. Thankfully I still had time to get everything finished before it was due, but I hate feeling rushed!

Tomorrow morning I have to go volunteer 2 hours of my (limited) time this week at Northridge for my class. Last week, the 2 hours went by amazingly fast, and I hope that that's the case this week because I don't want to feel like I'm there for 12 hours, instead of just the 2. That's about the only thing that I don't like about this quarter, having to squeeze in 10 hours of volunteer time with special needs students. It's not that I mind volunteering or working with the students...it's just that my time is so limited anyways and adding this into the mix just makes it even worse. I wish that I could get the remaining 8 hours done and out of the way in one shot, but my schedule barely allows for me to give them 2 hours in one day...8 would be impossible!

The worst part about being behind in my school work is that I feel so tired and all I want to do is sleep. I called Jake today on my way to my night class, and when I asked him what he was up to, he said that he was sitting outside getting some sun. He was outside enjoying the nice day and I was heading into a building to be stuck inside a classroom for 3 1/2 hours! That's so wrong! I have classes every day this quarter and the only day that I don't work (besides on the weekend) is Thursday. By the time the weekend rolls around, the weather is shitty and I can't enjoy it. This sucks!

Sorry if I'm rambling too much but I just felt the need to vent some frustrations. I probably should have put this at the beginning of this post so that I could warn everyone ahead of time so they could stop reading if they didn't want to hear/read my complaints...oh well. Such is life, I guess. ;p

Weekend update

Well, we went to the show last night. It was pretty good, but it was so miserably hot and stuffy in the theatre that we had to cut out at the intermission. Thankfully the tickets were free, so we didn't lose any money. If we (in the audience) were that uncomfortable, I can't even imagine how hot they were up on stage in their all-black outfits and with those spotlights shining on them. Jake and I are planning on doing that again sometime, but next time we're planning on dressing to be more comfortable as far as room temperature goes. We did feel pretty underdressed, but a lot of the people wearing suits and dress jackets were old men that are probably always cold, anyways. So, next time we'll have to dress a little nice but be smarter about what we're wearing so we don't die from the heat.

The baptism was this morning. I really didn't want to wake up at 7:45 to get ready to be in Celina by 9:30...I had a really hard time waking up after I shut my alarm off. The service was pretty short and the actual baptism only lasted about 10 minutes. I wasn't required to go stand up at the front (like I'm accustomed to with Catholic baptisms), so that was a little weird for me, but the process was about 1/4 the length of the Catholic process, so that was a plus.

Jake left reading an entire book for class on Monday for today, so we weren't able to attend the "reception" after church, but we did go over to Eric and Katie's apartment to hang out with them for a bit while they got her bottles cleaned so she could eat. I gave Sophie her presents and she slobbered on the lamb and was smacking the little Bible and chewed on the edges. It didn't take her very long to break them in. ;p

1st midterm of the quarter

Well, I finished up my 1st midterm of the quarter this morning around 11:30 (it took me over an hour to do it). I don't think that I did very well, but at least I've learned what to expect for the next 2 and hopefully the 3 points of extra credit that I'll have by the end of the quarter will make some difference.

Yesterday was such a nice day and I was out enjoying it when I should have been studying my ass off to try and understand the material for the midterm. I just couldn't make myself do it. The last couple of nice days we've had, I've been stuck inside all day and I didn't want that to happen this time...so I sacrificed a decent midterm grade for a few hours in the sun. It seemed like a pretty fair trade to me. ;p

******************************************************

I finally got a gift for Sophie (my goddaughter) yesterday. I stopped at "Gifts of Joy" and browsed around for a while before I decided on a cute little stuffed lamb that is looking up adoringly at, I'm guessing, whoever is holding it (?); the little lamb has a little cloth book that has a little poem/prayer for the little child. It's really cute and it wasn't that expensive, which is what surprised me. I also picked her up a "Little Golden Book" children's Bible because I remember reading the "Little Golden Books" when I was younger and I just thought it was so cool that they had a Bible! Now all I need to do before Sunday is pick up a gift bag and maybe a card to stick in with the gifts. I can take care of all of that tomorrow before I have to start getting ready for the orchestra.

I found out today that the title of the show is "Rite of Spring." I'm pretty excited about it, even tho I'm not sure what songs they'll be playing. I've never been to an event like this and I'm excited to see what it's all about. I hope it's a good show but, even if it's not, I didn't actually pay for the tickets, so I guess all I'll have lost is the time. But, I think it'll be good. :)

Getting stuff done

Well, it's about quarter after 4 right now and I've got about 45 minutes before my class starts and I think I've had a very productive couple of hours today. I already had my stuff done for tonight's class yesterday (it only involved doing an outline for our group discussion tonight) and I have a copy printed off for everyone in the group on pretty purple paper (yay alliteration ;p). Today I got my 2 chapters read in our "What About Me?" book for tomorrow's class, and I just have to scan thru the textbook chapters before class tomorrow and get an idea of what my group is supposed to be discussing in class.

Tomorrow morning, I'm heading over to Northridge from about 10-12 am to get started with my volunteer work for my "Intro to Exceptional Children" class. We're supposed to do 10 hours of volunteer work/time with students (or adults, if that's what you choose) with special needs before the end of the quarter. Our response paper for our 1st experience is due tomorrow, but she said that she'd understand if we weren't able to get them in on time, but we just had to let her know. Since my 1st plans had fallen thru, I talked to my Mom about contacting the lady she knew that ran the reading program at Northridge. Well, she's not the one that does that anymore, but she did have the e-mail of the new lady. I left her a message yesterday asking if there might be any possiblity of me getting in to volunteer Thursday morning. She called me back around 9 last night, but I missed her call. She called me again around 9 this morning to get the details figured out, but I missed her because I was in the bathroom getting ready.

I figured I should call her before I headed to campus today so that I knew I would have time to talk with her, so I just gave her a call when I was finished getting dressed. We set up a time for tomorrow morning so now I don't have to worry about that anymore. I still won't be able to get the paper done before class tomorrow, but she told me to just remind her why it's late when I turn it in. Hopefully I get that done on Friday. I should be very possible and that way I don't have to worry about it over the weekend, because I have plenty of other things going on this weekend.

*************************************************************

Saturday is the day that Jake and I are going to the Lima Symphony Orchestra. The "name" of the show is something about spring, so hopefully it's music that is spring-y and fun. I'm really looking forward to this, but I haven't really figured out what to wear. It's an occasion that calls for dressy, and that means that I'll have to dig thru my clothes to find something dressy yet comfy. And that also means that I'll have to force Jake to buy some dress pants and possibly a dress shirt (if he doesn't have one already). I'm not looking forward to that experience. He can be so picky sometimes.

Sunday, of course, is the day of my goddaughter's baptism. I still haven't gotten her a gift. I'm hoping that maybe Saturday I can go visit "Gifts of Joy" and see what they've got. I know it's cutting it a little close, but that's probably the only day that I can get there while they're still open. :( So, I really hope that I can find something for her there because I won't have really any time to look elsewhere.

While I'm excited about Sunday, I'm also a little disappointed. I heard that (in this church) the godparents don't even go stand up at the front with the parents and the godchild. Not that I'm a big fan of standing in front of a bunch of people (possibly a bunch of people I don't even know), but I was looking forward to actually participating in the ceremony, and now that I've been told that I won't be standing up front with them, I don't know what part I'm expected to play.

Worried

Last night I almost had a panic attack when I realized that I have an assignment due this Thursday which is supposed to cover my first experience with working with students with special needs...which I haven't had yet. I e-mailed my prof and let her know what was going on (that I had contacted the equestrian therapy place in Lima but hadn't heard back from them yet; I also sent my mom the info for the assignment and she contacted the lady that runs/used to run the reading program at Northridge, so hopefully I can get in there) and she told me that I'll just have to write her a little note when I turn the paper in. So, it's really not that big of a deal, I guess, but I just wish that I had everything lined up already because we're supposed to do 10 hours of volunteer service this quarter and we're almost halfway thru it and I don't have that much free time during the week...eek!

****************************************************************

So, I've been thinking about something lately. I recently had a friend of mine ask me what I thought my personal style was as far as home decor and I really didn't have an answer for her then. But, over the past few nights I've spent a lot of time looking around at my aunt and uncle's house and I realized that their home is styled the way I want mine to be. I'm not sure how to explain it other than that it's kinda "antique store meets country home" with an old-fashioned library sorta twist in some places. It's also modern (as in a refridgerator, stove, microwave, etc.) mixed with old (they have old wooden crates, books, roller skates, and old pots and pans positioned around their house as decoration). It's just a really neat house and the interior design is awesome.

Unfortunately, I lack the ability to look at something in an antique store and envision it as being something else or serving a purpose that isn't what it was originally intended to serve. So, I don't know that I'll ever be able to do those things in my home, but I want to try...at least with 1 room. Thankfully, I've got a while before I'll have my own home and I don't have to worry about all of that right now, but I've just been thinking about things like that since I'm basically living on my own for the next 5 or so days. I guess it's something that almost every girl will think about at some point in her life, but since I've been house sitting for people for the past few months (off and on, of course), I guess it's just naturally come up in my thoughts recently.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind living at home with my parents because I know that once I'm out on my own, I'm going to have too many expenses and responsibilities that I'm just not ready for and wouldn't know how to handle right now. So, I'm grateful that I can still live at home and not have to worry about rent or utilities or food (well, I usually buy my own lunches, snacks and drinks for school, but that's different) or the like. It's just something I like to ponder, I guess.

Horray!

Two of my cousins (actually, their wives/fiances) have had their babies in the last 5 days. We now have a little boy, Aiden (sp?) and a little girl, Madelyn, to welcome to the family. :) My aunt and uncle are going down to Virginia to visit Madelyn and her parents, so I'm going to be house-sitting for them for the next week. That means that I get a little mini vacation from my family. Yay! It also means that I'll be home even less than I was before, so I'll have less time to get all of my stuff done here (like feeding the critters and spending time with my Ming). Oh well. I think that'll force me to do more homework, which isn't a bad thing.

So, we've welcomed 2 more babies into our family and we have 3 more that should be joining us by August. I'm so glad to see the next generation coming around. Before these babies and my goddaugther, Sophie, I wasn't really around when the other cousins were having their kids. I probably won't see these 2 very much, either, but I'm hoping that's not the case with a few of the others.

So anyways. I should definately be doing some homework, but I'm obviously not. I wanted to head over to the library to look for some children's books for one of my classes (I have to make an annotated bibliography) but I don't know if I'm going to make it over there today because I still have a lot to get together and ready for transferring over to my aunt and uncle's house. Maybe they'll be open tomorrow? If not, I'm pretty much screwed cuz the paper's due on Monday...I'll figure something out.

Yuck

That is the only way to describe the weather today. It has been rainy and cold and just nasty outside all day. I really hope that this weekend is as nice as they've predicted! Low- to mid-60s are going to feel amazing compared to low 30s and 40s! I'm ready for the 70s and 80s right now, tho. I'm just so sick of crappy rainy/snowy/cold weather. It seems like it's been a year since we've had a nice day and I'm looking forward to it.

In other news. I got a free pair of tickets from my boss for the Lima Symphony Orchestra performance on April 19th. I'm pretty excited about that! I've never really gone to anything fancy before, so I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to dress, but I'm sure as long as I do something slightly dressy, I should be fine. Now, getting Jake into dressy clothes may present a problem. ;p

In some different other news, my goddaughter's baptism is quickly approaching. I've only got a little over 2 weeks before the "big day" and I still haven't figured out an appropriate gift to get her. I wanted to get her a Precious Moments Bible, but I don't know if she has one already. And, that may be more of a 1st communion gift (which I don't know if she'll have since she's not Catholic and I don't know much about how other religions handle their baptism and what comes after that). So, I'm back at "square 1" again. I should just give her dad a call and see if there's anything that he can think of, but that involves me trying to find a time when he isn't working or sleeping, and I don't wanna bother him while he's doing either of those. ;p I guess I'll just have to "wing-it" or something. ;p

Almost time

I've got about 10 minutes before my next class, and I haven't done the assignment that's due today. Fortunately, the prof is really relaxed and she'll let us submit work up until like the day of the next class after the assignment is due. So, I'll be doing this assignment and whatever assignment we have for next week over the weekend. I just completely lacked the movitivation to do any work over the weekend. I should have started my reading, because I have about 3-4 chapters to read by tomorrow and Thursday (combined, of course), and I'm going to be so stressed out trying to get that done...along with getting more reading and some exercises done for my English class tomrrow morning. Thankfully I don't have to be up early tomorrow, so that gives me some time tonight to get more work done.

I really need to space myself out and get organized and start doing stuff over the weekends so that I don't have this mid-week scramble every week! I tell myself this every quarter, and I never seem to listen to myself until it's too late. Why can't I take my own advice?
