It's pretty sad when...

the highlight of your Friday night is shopping for ribbon and yarn. But, that perfectly describes my Friday night. I did find some yarn for my DIY cardbox project and I also found some yarn to start baby Norah's (Jake's cousin's baby girl) baby blanket. :)

Well, the weather is definitely changing...

because my throat is dry and scratchy and I'm all shivery. I feel like I'm getting a cold and it sucks! I hate being sick because I never call off work, so then I get to deal with kids all day while I feel like total crap, so I'm even more exhausted at the end of the day. It makes it a lot harder to get over being sick when you can't let your body rest like it needs to in order to recover. But, knowing my luck, I'll be sick all weekend and be perfectly fine by Monday. And then I won't have an excuse to call off work. Darn.

Weird news...

not bad, just weird.

I was up in Toledo yesterday with Jake visiting with her cousin and her baby. We had gotten up there kinda late and I have pretty much no signal in the hospital, so I didn't realize that I had a voicemail/missed call until we left around 7:30 to go grab some dinner.

Well, I checked the voicemail and it was from my biological father. He was telling me that he gotten engaged to his girlfriend. Now, I'm happy for them, truly, but I was taken by surprise by this announcement because I never, ever expected my biological father to get married...EVER!

I'm curious to hear the whole story & find out exactly how the question was popped and all of that, but I still can't wrap my brain around the fact that he's engaged...it's just weird.

T.G.I.F.!

I'm SO glad that it's the weekend again! I wish I had the supplies to work on one of my many projects. I probably could run to the store to get some of the stuff, but that requires effort and I don't know if I want to be lazy or productive tonight. ;p

S.T.D.s! (the good kind)

I ordered some business cards last night on Vista Print. I got 250 free! I just had to pay the $6 shipping fee. I'm planning on buying some magnet paper to turn the cards into fridge magnets. And viola, Save-the-Dates! Of course I will also get some envelopes for the magnets that have to be mailed.

I'm super excited! I feel like this is something that I will be able to work on to keep myself busy for a little bit but it won't cost me an arm and a leg (like my DIY card box potentially will, depending on how crazy I get with the decorations ;p).

Feeling...blah

I'm not sure what it is about today but I'm feeling really blah right now. I don't know if it's because it's been somewhat gloomy outside for the last several hours or if I'm tired, or maybe a combination of several factors but I just can't shake this feeling. I'm also getting a headache, which isn't doing anything for my mood. I hope this mood goes away by tomorrow.

End of vacation

It saddens me to say that my vacation is now over and that I will have to return to work tomorrow morning. I feel like I was just finally able to enjoy myself and then BAM, it's Sunday. All I can say now is "Is it Christmas break yet?" ;p

It's a little bit funny...

So, I've been hearing the Elton John version of this song on the radio quite a bit lately, but I always, ALWAYS envision the Moulin Rouge scene when I hear it. Love it!

It's a little bit funny
This feeling inside
I'm not one of those people
Who can easily hide

I don't have much money,
But boy if I did
I'd buy a big house
Where we both could live.

If I was a sculptor, (but then again no)
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show

I know its not much,
But it's the best I can do

(Starts Singing)
My gift is my song
And this one's for you.

And you can tell everybody
That this is your song.
It may be quite simple but
Now that it's done.

Hope you don't mind,I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you're in the world.

Sat on the roof
And I kicked off the moss.
Well some of these verses
Well they, they got me quite cross.
But the sun's been kind
While I wrote this song.

It's for people like you
That keep it turned on.

So excuse me forgetting,
But these things I do.
You see I've forgotten
If they're green or they're blue.
Anyway the thing is,
What I really mean,
Yours are the sweetest eyes
I've ever seen.

And you can tell everybody
That this is your song.
It may be quite simple,but
Now that it's done.

I hope you don't mind,I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you're in the world!

Canceled cable

I canceled our "fancy" cable so now we just have basic so that I can check the local weather and delays when the snow starts flying. One of the ladies on my wedding month board informed us that her work place is going to be featured on the new episode of "4 Weddings" and now I'm sad because I can't watch it! It figures that a couple of days after the cable was canceled, there would be something on that I actually wanted to watch!

New Favorite Dessert Recipe

So, I found this tasty sounding dessert recipe on food.com and decided to try it out on Friday when we had Jake's parents over for dinner. The recipe is called "Dialysis Peach Blueberry Crisp", so you know it HAS to be good!  When I was baking the crisp, the whole apartment smelled delicious! Jake asked me to make it again for his parents' cookout tonight, and I was happy to oblige because I've been craving it ALL DAY today!

Here's the link for the recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/dialysis-peach-blueberry-crisp-91280  I hope that you try it out because it's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

Day 2 of vacation

Today, Jake and I are planning to drive up to Toledo to meet his cousin's little baby, Norah! We haven't been able to see her yet (she was born on August 6th) because Jake's and my schedule haven't been working well together lately. But, I'm excited to see baby Norah in person and to finally get to hold her! I can't wait until she gets to come home so that I can spoil her rotten and buy her cute little girl outfits and frilly things! :D

While we're in Toledo, I'm going to drive down the road from the hospital to the David's Bridal that the website says should be there (the map says it should only be about 10 minutes away from the hospital, so we shall see) to order a bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding in April. I really hope that the store is actually where the map says that it is because it would be so nice to get the dress ordering over with while we're already in Toledo rather than having to drive to the nearest store at a later date (the nearest store is about 75 miles/an hour and 20 minutes South of me...boo!)!
