Silly me...

I went to bed late last night because I thought I had today off from work for New Year's Eve...but I was wrong. My Mom came into my room around 10:20 and told me that my boss had called and said that I was supposed to come in this morning...oops!

So, I got up and got ready and headed out to campus, arriving around 11:30. I was supposed to be in at 8 this morning...obviously that didn't happen. So, I'm going to be here until 5 and then I'm supposed to go see "Sweeney Todd" with some friends around 7:30. I hope that's good because I have to pay $8 to see it, so I really hope it's a good movie! I'm really excited about this movie because 1) it has Johnny Depp in it, 2) it's a musical and I want to see how it turns out and 3) he's a demon barber that kills people! It has to be great, right?!

I don't really have any big plans for today except "ringing in" the New Year with Jake's family. I haven't yet decided if I will be celebrating with any alcohol tonight, except maybe for toasting the New Year when the ball drops. I may be too tired to drink anything (it would be wasted if I drink it and pass out because of exhaustion ;p).

I haven't yet made any New Years resolutions and I don't think I plan to because I never stick with them, anyways. I do have some goals that I would like to accomplish next year, but I plan on meeting them at my own pace and I'm not necessarily restricting myself to any time limits. So, I guess, in a way, I do have some resolutions...let's see if I can stick with them this year!

I wish you all a very Happy New Year and I hope that 2008 brings you lots of joy and happiness!!!

I like spending money!

We went to Columbus today to spend our Christmas money at the Tuttle Mall. We've been doing this every year for at least the past 3 years and it's a great tradition.

We left the house around 12-12:30 and we got to Boston Market around 1:30-2 (which is pretty good for us, but Dad probably could have made the trip in about an hour if he didn't have to slow down to a normal speed so that I could follow him ;p). When we got to the restaurant, we ordered our food and it only took us about half an hour to eat (because most of us were starving) but we waited for another 20-ish minutes for Mom's brother and his wife to show up.

Shortly after they showed up, me, Dad, my brothers and Ben's girlfriend headed over to the mall, leaving Mom with my Aunt and Uncle (which was fine with her because she hates shopping and malls and the sort).

The first store I headed to was Forever 21 because I needed to pick up a giftcard for a friend for Christmas. Unfortunately the lines were too long, so I decided to leave and come back later. I left that store and browsed around in a few more, but left those pretty quickly because I didn't find anything of interest.

After a while, I wandered over to Payless where I bought myself 3 pairs of shoes. I got a cute pair of sling-back black shoes that have a slightly pointy toe and a heel that's only about an inch high. I recently inherrited some dressy clothes and I figured that it would be a good idea to have dressy shoes to wear along with them. I got a pair of black flats that look exactly like the brown ones I just bought. My only pair of black flats is pretty much dead, and I like my brown ones so much, so I decided to get those in black. :) I also picked up a pair of brown tennis shoes. Now when the weather is cold and icky outside, I won't be limited to wearing only clothes that go with black tennis shoes...I can wear whatever I want!

Eventually I picked up the giftcard for my friend from Forever 21 and then I ended up in Walden's, but I decided not to buy anything for myself in there because I still have one more gift exchange and I don't know if any of my friends bought me any books.

My next stop was Claire's. I found all sorts of cute things there! I picked up a white tiger TY stuffed animal and a Jack Sparrow pillowcase for one friend, an orange bendy watch with penguins on it for another friend, a Garfield TY stuffed animal for Jake, and a Snowman TY beanie baby for my Aunt.

I got all of my Christmas shopping over with officially after I made a trip over to Bath and Body Works. While in there, I picked up a bottle of Midnight Pomegranate perfume and a Black Raspberry Vanilla Wallflower (for myself).

The trip to Bath and Body Works marked the end of my spending frenzy because I pretty much ran out of money after that. So, I headed back over to the Food Court to hang out with Mom and my Aunt and Uncle while everyone else finished up.

Oh yeah...I had this amazingly huge piece of tomato, onion and basil pizza from a place in the Food Court called "Sbarro." It was pretty good, but I couldn't taste much of it (I think my nose is a little stuffed up).

Anyways. The day was a success, in my opinion. I just wish I would have had more time and more money to spend. ;p

Back in working order...

My computer was down for about a week and I wasn't sure what was wrong with it. I had feared that the hard drive or the mother board was fried, but thankfully, that wasn't the case. My Uncle told me that one of the connecting cables was loose, he pushed it in, and that seemed to fix it (thank God!).

So, it's late, but "Merry Christmas" everyone! I hope you had a good one! Despite not having a lot of money this year, mine was surprisingly good (I guess that just goes to show that it's not all about money and big, expensive presents during the holidays).

So far, I've had about 4 Christmas gift exchanges, and I still have at least one more to go. I really like everything I've gotten so far (thankfully).

From Mom and Dad:

  • a DVD player/recorder
  • Chip 'N Dale pjs
  • slipper boots (which are amasingly warm!)

From Jake and his family:

  • a Grumpy Bear hoodie (Jake)
  • a Happy Bunny hoodie (Jake)
  • a singing reindeer that lights up
  • a gas card (which I will need)
  • lots of Bath and Body Works (Black Raspberry Vanilla...mmm!)
  • a Recipe book
  • a cute black shirt with polka dots
  • a huge pearl necklace to go with said shirt
  • a Santa with a jingly hat

From friends:

  • Scene It TV edition (Jess)
  • a jar of chocolate! (Sarah)
  • a Pirates of the Caribbean poster (Christa)
  • a Grumpy Bear shirt (which I had to exchange for an Tinkerbell shirt because it didn't fit my chest right...damn!) (Christa)

Stuff that I bought with my Christmas money:

  • 3 pairs of shoes (a pair of short black heels, a pair of black flats and some brown tennis shoes)
  • a Black Raspberry Vanilla Wallflower (from Bath and Body Works)

I'm probably missing some stuff, but I really can't think of anything else right now. I still have some money coming from Mom and Dad because they're taking us all to Tuttle Mall tomorrow to spend it on ourselves, and I have one more gift exchange with friends, so I'm not done yet.

But, I hope everyone had a great Christmas this year and that you all have a Happy New Year!!!

The Wedding

My cousin, Eric, got married on Saturday. Both of my brothers and I were in the wedding (I was a bridesmaid, Ben was a groomsman, and Nick lit the candles). The actual ceremony took no time at all, but I had been up since 6:00 A.M. because I had to be in Celina by 7:30-ish to decorate the hall for the reception, so it was a LONG day. And I was so glad that the dresses weren't hideous, because I can't imagine being stuck in an ugly dress all day! Oh yeah, and they were about the color of the text for this blog (maybe a little darker), so the color wasn't too bad, either

The wedding was beautiful and everything went extremely well (for the most part- but hey, it's not a wedding unless -something- goes wrong ;p). The pictures took a really long time and the little kids were getting restless and some of them didn't want to cooperate, but we finally got through them.

The reception was a blast! After the Wedding Party was done eating, they cleared away the tables to make room for dancing. Before the dancing took place, a slideshow of the couple was projected onto one of the walls for everyone to watch. Once that was over, they did all of the traditional dances, and then they played the good music. :) Most of the Wedding Party even did the "Soldier Boy dance" (except for me and a few others who didn't know it).

All-in-all, I would say that it was a great wedding, and I only hope that their marriage is as good or better! I hope they take care of each other and their little girl, Sophie, (and the other children that come along), and that they are truly happy.

Autumn Quarter 2007- check!

My fall quarter officially ended on Tuesday with the completion of my Chemistry final, but I still had to head up to campus on Wednesday, thru all of the snow and ice, to work for 5 hours. While the drive wasn't horrible, precisely, it would have been nice to not have to worry about having a huge accident on my way to work that morning.

Wednesday afternoon, after I got off work, I headed over to Jake's house and his Mom and I made Buckeyes and Peanut butter Fudge (Mmmm!). It didn't take us nearly as long as I had figured it would take (of course, we only made a double batch of Buckeyes and one batch of fudge), and it was a lot of fun. I'm sure we'll be doing something similar this coming Wednesday, and maybe I'll have some time to finally finish up Jake's monster blanket! :)

So, the Christmas season is upon us, and I feel completely unprepared for it. Right now, I don't have much time to worry about it because I have so much going on with preparations for my cousin's wedding next Saturday...my brain is just too occupied to think about presents a whole lot (but I still think about them). This quarter seemed to go by extremely fast towards the end, and it feels like Christmas is going to be here just as quickly, and I won't have gifts for many people at all.

With the mild amounts of stress aside, I think that this Winter Break is going to be extremely enjoyable! We're in a new house, so we're basically getting a new start (in a way) pretty much just in time for the New Year, and that's really exciting. Of course, moving is always a huge inconvenience, but at least we didn't have far to go this time, and the house is awesome!

I'm not really looking forward to any of my classes next quarter, so I really hope that these next couple of weeks don't fly by and that I will have the opportunity to enjoy the seasonal weather this year (maybe go sledding a time or two?). Maybe I'll get caught up on all of the sleep that I missed over the last quarter and get a little extra stocked up for missed hours next quarter? ;p

It's official....

We've moved into the new house and we're spending our first night in it tonight. I wish that I would have moved more of my stuff over in the last month than I did because I really didn't get much moved over today because we were concentrating on the rest of the house. We're still not finished moving everything over yet, but we got over half of the crap moved and we had a lot of wonderful helpers!

I have to find time tomorrow to do some more packing/unpacking and finish up my take-home final for Stats and work on my pre-test for Chem so I can get that into Carmen before Tuesday. It might also be helpful to schedule some study time either tomorrow or Monday (most likely Monday) for my Chem final.

The quarter is finally almost over, and I'm so glad! After my final on Tuesday, I will be able to concentrate on other important things (such as my cousin's wedding and Christmas shopping), and that'll be nice. :)
